Tier meeting software for manufacturing, compared.

At 7:00 the line team meets at the board. By 9:00 the one problem they could not solve should be on the area manager's desk, with a name and a date. Every tool on this page promises that. They differ in how it happens, what else sits around the meeting, and whether you can see the price.

Below: when a whiteboard is still enough, ten criteria with the question to ask each vendor, seven tools compared from their own public pages, and where TeamGuru fits and where it does not. We make TeamGuru, so read our row with that in mind.

Is a whiteboard still enough?

A whiteboard is enough when

  • One line, one board, a team that meets at the same spot every shift.
  • Escalation means walking over to the supervisor, and that works.
  • Nobody above the area asks for the numbers or the open actions.

Software pays off when

  • Tier 2 and Tier 3 need what Tier 1 found, without someone retyping the board.
  • Actions get lost between meetings, or nobody can say which ones are late.
  • Several areas or sites should run the same meeting the same way.

Either way, the cascade comes first and the tool second. The tier meetings guide covers the tiers, timing and escalation rules, and the SQDIP guide the board itself. Whatever you agree there is what you will configure in any tool.

Ten criteria, and the question to ask

Ask every vendor to run one of your real meetings in the demo, with your KPIs and your escalation path, not their sample plant.

  1. The meeting runs itself

A tier meeting is fifteen minutes standing up. The tool should hold the standard agenda, keep time per item and take notes on the spot, not after the meeting at a desk.

Ask: Can I run a fifteen-minute meeting from the screen at the board, agenda and timer included?

  2. Attendance on record

If the meeting matters, who was there matters. Look for present, excused and absent per person, and a rate you can review.

Ask: Where do I see who attended, per person and over the year?

  3. Actions survive to the next meeting

Every action needs an owner and a date, and it has to be on screen the next day until it is done. Otherwise the board turns into a list of things said once.

Ask: Show me yesterday's open actions at today's meeting, and who owns each one.

  4. Escalation that reaches someone

What Tier 1 cannot solve has to land with a named person at Tier 2, with its history. Ask what triggers it, who is told, through which channel, and what is recorded.

Ask: When Tier 1 escalates, who gets notified, how, and where is the answer recorded?

  5. Numbers that come from somewhere

SQDIP or SQCDP letters are only as good as the data behind them. Check the target, the color rule, and how values get in: typed, imported or through an API.

Ask: How does a value get onto the board, and what turns a letter red?

  6. Roll-up from team to plant

The plant manager wants the same letters for the whole site without someone adding up team boards on Friday.

Ask: Can a site-level board be built from the team boards and stay current by itself?

  7. A line back to strategy

A red KPI at Tier 1 should trace to an annual objective. If strategy lives in another tool, the meeting never sees it.

Ask: Which annual objective does this KPI belong to, and can I open it from here?

  8. Works where the meeting happens

A TV at the board, a tablet on the line, a phone in the corridor. Ask whether it needs an app, whether it works offline, and how it looks on a big screen.

Ask: Does it run in a browser, does it need an app, and what happens without network?

  9. The languages of your plant

A multilingual workforce reads the board in its own language, or not at all.

Ask: Which languages is the interface itself available in, and at what cost?

  10. A price and a timeline you can plan

A quote-only price slows every budget conversation. So does a rollout nobody can estimate.

Ask: What does it cost for my number of users, and how many weeks until the first team runs on it?

TeamGuru

Best for: Plants that want the tier meeting, its actions, the KPI board and the X-Matrix in one place, with attendance on record.

Know before you buy: Escalation is triggered by a person, not by a KPI crossing a threshold. No native app and no offline mode. Timed escalation levels need the Problem Escalation module.

DigiLEAN

Best for: Teams that want a public per-user price and boards with ERP or MES data through an API.

Know before you buy: Interface languages are not stated on the site, and we found no public reviews.

Sources: Pricing · Boards module

iObeya

Best for: Large organizations that run many visual rooms and want two-way connectors (Jira, SAP, Power BI and more).

Where TeamGuru fits, and where it does not

TeamGuru runs the tier meeting as one part of a bigger chain: the objective on the X-Matrix, the KPI on the board, the action from the meeting and the escalation when the team is stuck, all in one system. It is the right choice when that chain is what you are missing.

What it does

  • A standard agenda with minutes per item and a timer, one-off items, and an item you run out of time for moves to the next meeting.
  • Attendance per person: present, excused or absent, with the rate per person and year to date in the meeting history.
  • Every meeting has its own action list, so last time's actions are on screen until they are done. Owners get a reminder before the due date.
  • What Tier 1 cannot solve goes up as an escalated action: to named people or groups, or along timed levels by email or SMS, with who closed it and when.
  • The SQDIP board in Reports: your own letters, color coding against target with a tolerance, trend, days without a miss, open actions and a Pareto of problems. Shown on a TV with rotating slides.
  • KPIs roll up from team to area to site through summary metrics, and each KPI can belong to an objective on the X-Matrix.
  • 16 interface languages, single sign-on, ISO 27001. Live in a few weeks, with consultants who have run dozens of rollouts.

What it does not do

  • No escalation triggered automatically by a KPI crossing its threshold. The color changes; a person escalates.
  • No native mobile app and no offline mode. It runs in the browser on phones and tablets.
  • Not a freeform digital whiteboard. Boards are structured: agenda, actions, KPIs.
  • KPI data arrives through the API, a CSV import or by hand, not through a native ERP or MES connector.

The Group plan, from $350 a month billed annually, covers meetings, actions, KPI dashboards, strategy deployment and reports; Enterprise and Unlimited add every other module. See meeting management, KPI management and problem escalation, or book a demo on one of your own meetings from any page. Two closer looks: TeamGuru as an iObeya alternative and Excel, Power Apps or software.

How we compared

We picked the tools that come up when plant teams search for tier meeting, huddle board and daily management software, read each vendor's own product, pricing and help pages on October 30, 2026, and wrote down only what those pages say. We left out review-site ratings, because we could not read them reliably. If something has changed, or we got your product wrong, write to info@teamguru.com and we will correct it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best tier meeting software for manufacturing?

The one that runs your fifteen-minute meeting at the board, keeps actions alive until they are done, and gets an escalation to a named person at the next tier. Which tool that is depends on what you need around the meeting: frontline routines and audits (Tervene, Poka), visual rooms at enterprise scale (iObeya), an improvement pipeline (KaiNexus), KPIs first (Data Point) or the line from strategy to the shop floor (TeamGuru).

What does tier meeting software do?

It replaces the paper board of a tiered daily meeting: the standard agenda, the KPI letters, the action list and the escalation path from Tier 1 to Tier 2 and Tier 3. Good tools also keep attendance and the history of each meeting, so the cascade can be reviewed, not just run.

How much does tier meeting software cost?

Most vendors publish no price. Of the seven tools on this page, three show a number: DigiLEAN per user (€13.50 to €17 a month, billed annually), iObeya per room (€3,780 a year on the Team plan) and TeamGuru per plan (Group from $350 a month, billed annually, with meetings, actions, KPIs, strategy deployment and reports). Checked on October 30, 2026.

Do we need software, or is a whiteboard enough?

A whiteboard is enough for one team at one board. Software pays off when Tier 2 needs what Tier 1 found, when actions get lost between meetings, or when several areas should run the same meeting the same way. Start with the method in our tier meetings guide either way.

Does TeamGuru escalate automatically when a KPI turns red?

No. The KPI changes color against its target, and a person escalates the action, to named people or along timed levels that move up on their own if nobody responds in time. We think a human decision on what to escalate is the right default, but if you need threshold-triggered escalation, ask every vendor to show it on your data.
